First Weekend Club is a free, cross-Canada film club dedicated to building audiences and appreciation for Canadian films and talent. As our membership is the driving force of the organization, it is important that we win your trust. As such, we will only send you e-mail film alerts letting you know about the best Canadian films which have been selected by our jury of film professionals. By joining First Weekend Club as a member you will be exposed to a number of great benefits, all listed below. These benefits are in line with our mission, to inform you about, involve you in and get you excited to see Canadian films! Currently, First Weekend Club has chapters operating in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Halifax. Our Head Office is stationed in North Vancouver at the North Shore Film Studios.

As a member, you will be the first to hear about the great line-ups of Canadian films that are being released in theatres, and of course will have priority for free ticket giveaways, and will be informed about the Canadian film opening weekend details including parties, special events, contests and volunteer opportunities.

Our newsletter keeps you in the loop, and brings you all-access to the Canadian Film industry news, contests, links to trailers and also an insider look at our artists as we celebrate the fine achievements of Canadian film talent through feature articles and interviews.

First Weekend Club benefits include:

• Opportunities to participate in unique and memorable movie going experiences (each event is different and may include live dance performances or a live band right in the theatre, wine sampling, guest appearance by filmmakers and stars, exotic cuisine, etc).  These special launch events cost the same as a ticket to any other movie.
  
• Opportunities to enter cool contests to win movie passes, unique dining experiences (often with a filmmaker), luxury stays in five star hotels and a number of other great give-aways.
  
• Access to advance screenings of new Canadian films.  Many complimentary tickets are given away to First Weekend Club members.
  
• Invitations to special screenings and Talkbacks with filmmakers and stars
• Invitations to premier launch parties
• Access to Canadian filmmakers and stars through our online forum
• Opportunities to join our on-line community and to connect with other Canadian film enthusiasts through our DVD Club, Blog and Forum.
  

First Weekend Club also offers members a number of exciting initiatives to get involved in:

• The DVD Club - think book club but for film.  Once a month a new film that is now available on DVD is selected and members are encouraged to rent or buy it from their local video store, then join us online to chat about it. This online forum is frequently visited by directors and stars of the films we've selected.
• Canada Screens - this is a monthly screening event that samples the best in Canadian cinema.  Often the films we show are sneak peaks of new films that will open theatrically soon, given our members an opportunity to see them first.  Canada Screens is currently offered in Vancouver and will soon be launched in Toronto.
  
• The Blog - this is where the First Weekend Club team and our members can post their reviews about the films we've promoted or simply comment about anything to do with Canadian film.
